What time does the race start?

Announcements and warm-up will start at 9:30am immediately followed by the mini dash. Once the mini dash concludes, the 1.8 mile walk/run will take place. 

Where do I park?

Parking is available on the surrounding side streets or at the St. George Orthodox Church. 

Additionally, limited paid parking is available at the Buffalo Zoo

Where do I go after I park?

Kids Run will be held in the Colvin green space which is located on the corner of Colvin Blvd. and Amherst St. near the Zoo's service gate. 

Before the race starts, you can stop by the Health and Wellness tent, visit the food trucks for a snack, enjoy the Nickel City Reptiles Show, play soccer, dance to music and more! Visit the Wegmans tent for fun activities as well! 

Are there restrooms?

Yes! Port-A-Potties are available on site.  

Are there emergency procedures in place?

Yes! The Buffalo Police Department, private security, and EMTs are onsite throughout the event.  

How do I get a timing chip?

Kids ages 6-18 are eligible for timing chips. In order to get a chip, you must pre-register online by Friday, May 19 and check the box that says "Yes! I want a timing chip." Adults and kids under age 6 will not recieve a timing chip. The timing chip will be attached to your child's race number. If you do not bring your race numbers to the event, there will not be additional timing chips to use the day of the event. Only those who registed on or prior to May 19 are eligible to recieve a timing chip.  

When will I get my race numbers?

You must pre-register by May 19th to get a race number, and they will be mailed out following online registration. They should arrive a few days prior to the event.

What if I’m missing a race number in my packet?

What if I registered online but did not get my packet in the mail?

Can I still participate if I do not pre-register?

Attendance for this year's race will be capped to ensure that we have enough medals, fruit and water for everyone in attendance. We strongly encourage you to register by May 19 in order to participate. 

Will I get a confirmation for registering?

A confirmation email will be emailed to you within a week after registration. If you did not receive one, please check your spam folders.

Who is eligible for a trophy?

Any child ages 18 and under who is pre-registered and requests a timing chip by May 19 in the following catergories: 

  • Ages 18 and under top three, each gender 
  • Ages 15-18, top three, each gender 
  • Ages 12-14, top three, each gender 
  • Ages 9-11, top three, each gender 
  • Ages 6-8, top three, each gender 

Award medals will be given to all race participants (while supplies last)

What is the length of the race?

We run one loop around Ring Road in Delaware Park with all of our friends, which is equal to 1.8 miles. 

What if I can't make it to Delaware Park, can I still participate?

Of course! This year's race can be run in person or at home. Just register online by May 19th and we will send you your race packet! 

What if I registered to run at Delaware Park, but need to run at home?

Please send an email to foundation@independenthealth.com that you registered for the event at Delaware Park but that you need to run at home. Additionally, you will need to re-register to run at home.

What if I registered to run at home but want to run at Delaware Park?

Is the race still a free event?

Yes! Kids Run is a free event. All registered runners will receive a race number in the mail. 

Are there discounted Buffalo Zoo tickets this year?

Yes! The Buffalo Zoo is offering $10 off admission on June 3rd for kids with a Kids Run race bib or medal! Standard admissison rates apply for adults. For info on admission to the zoo, please visit www.buffalozoo.org.

Is there a food drive this year? 

Yes! We are hosting our 1st ever food drive at Kids Run to benefit FeedMore WNY! Donations are optional and would stay within WNY! Collection bins will be placed at the Buffalo Zoo and St. George Orthodox Church parking lots as well as in the Colvin Green Space. 

What items should I bring to the food drive?

Most needed items include: Peanut butter, canned tuna or chicken, canned soups, strews, or chili, canned fruit or veggies, canned beans, pasta and rice, spaghetti sauce, and boxed mac & cheese. 

Is there a Diaper Derby this year?

As much as we love it, no, there will not be a Diaper Derby this year. Our youngest participants can join in on a stroller!
